For more than a decade, I built my career in Human Resources within an international corporate environment, helping people and organisations grow, adapt and perform at their best. That experience taught me something that remains at the heart of my work as a makeup artist today - to see the person beyond the surface, understand their individual needs and build trust.

Alongside my corporate career, I spent 10 years as a Zumba instructor. It taught me another side of working with people -energy, confidence, presence, and that special feeling of helping someone feel good in their own skin.

With the creation of Petya K Makeup Artistry, I brought all of these experiences together with my passion for makeup, style and artistic expression. 

As a professional makeup artist, I work across a range of disciplines - from beauty makeup to theatre, film, artistic and special effects (SFX) makeup.

Working as a theatre makeup artist gives me the opportunity to transform ideas and personalities into real, believable characters - creating looks that need to hold their presence from the front row to the very back of the audience.

Film and SFX makeup appeal to me for another reason - the freedom to experiment, tell stories through visual details and use makeup as a tool for transformation.

Beauty makeup and image consulting, on the other hand, allow me to work with people as they are - highlighting their individual features, style and character.

At first glance, these disciplines may seem very different, but to me they share the same foundation: every one of them is about a person, a face, a story and an idea that needs to be understood before it can be brought to life.

I believe great makeup doesn't begin with a brush.  

It begins with observation.

With understanding the face, the character, the light, the context and the purpose. Sometimes the goal is to enhance natural beauty. Sometimes it is to create an entirely new look. And sometimes it is to transform a person into a character who never existed before.

This is where my philosophy comes in:

Precision. Passion. Personal Touch.

Precision - because details matter. From the right colour combinations and balance of shapes to the final detail that needs to look equally convincing on camera, under stage lights or up close.

Passion - because this is work I chose because I love it. My desire to keep learning and continuously develop my knowledge and skills is an essential part of how I work.

Personal Touch - because no two faces, personalities or characters are the same. Every person and every creation deserves an individual approach.
